Debra Langdon

Debra has a love of teaching and was a university professor for over 30 years. She still teaches, but now it’s jewelry classes instead of business classes! She has certifications from Rio Grande, Levels 1 through 3 from PMC Connection, Level 1 Instructor from Art Clay World, and is certified in all Camp Metal Clay courses to date, which include Camp Metal Clay 101, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 201, and 301. She strongly believes in the Certification Program as a way to provide validation and credibility to one’s skills and understanding of Metal Clay.

She currently teaches a variety of classes in Metal Clay in her home studio as well as virtually, via ZOOM. Additionally, she teaches classes in Pearl-Knotting and Kumihimo, always keeping in mind the successful combination of these techniques with designs in Metal Clay.

Debra’s core philosophy was inherited from her father, who was quick to remind her that “when you stop learning, you stop living”. This way of viewing life had a major impact on Debra, as can be seen in her own strong beliefs on education. Whether it is college degrees or jewelry certifications, she believes that you do what you can to further your education in those areas that are of interest to you. She derives great pleasure from teaching and finds it particularly rewarding when she sees the excitement demonstrated by her students as they master yet another technique!
